THE BRIEF
Over 5 days, each team has to construct a snow sculpture from a block of snow which is 3.5m cubed!
This year 10 teams competed from all over the globe, coming in from Turkey and the US, closer to home, Germany, France and of course the local Swiss teams.
I was delighted to represent Team GB with my colleagues Christine Close & Miranda Barber.
TRADITION
This year the the theme was Tradition. We chose a traditional Swiss theme as our entry - a cow sporting a decorative, floral headress along with some Swiss cheese for good measure. Others chose traditions from their own countries - a fabulous espresso pot from the Italians, a twisted rope evoking the alpine traditions of Grindelwald.
Teams were scored on technical expertise, artistic interpretation and their interpretation of the theme. The public who supported the teams all the way through a difficult and very cold week, got to vote for their favorites at the end too.
Whilst we did not take home any medals, it was a privilege to represent my country in competition. Something about which I have dreamt since childhood.
