About Me
I am a self-taught, London-born artist and sculptor.
Until 2014, art was confined to evenings and weekends, as I pursued a more traditional corporate career. However, my creative side eventually won through and now I work full-time at my artistic practice: painting, sculpting & coaching.
I am a proud member of ArtCan, and the Surrey Sculpture Society. I am Membership Director of the Friends of ArtCan programme and their Trustee Board Secretary. For Surrey Sculpture Society, I am Communications Coordinator and a Member of their Executive Committee.
MY WORK
My sculptural work consists of both stone carving and cast works, the latter produced in metals, plaster based materials and resins. My work often comprises a mix of these media.
I paint using a whole range of materials - generally using acrylics on canvas but also watercolour, ink and mixed media. I even produce paintings using my angle grinder from time to time!
My teaching style is to make art fun for anyone who wants to create. I use a variety of media and exercises in all my courses ; after all you never know what media or style you are going to fall in love with.
In terms of subject matter, my art explores the relationship between humans and what surrounds us. I am fascinated with anatomy and physiology and this is a constant in my work.
Journeying for work and pleasure over the years, I enjoy watching people going about their every day lives; considering how being in a different environment drives how we engage with each other - how people work and play; how it informs the cultural aspects of our life.
In the end, my work is inspired by us: by being human.
